Fashions come and go, and there comes that time at the end of every year when fashionistas take a good long hard look in their closet.

Fashion designers and researchers have got together not to talk about what the new fashion trends for 2018 are, but what they don’t want to see carried over from 2017.

Some choices may surprise you, but others may not.

Plaid is in the Past

In 2018 we won’t be seeing plaid anymore. Its run is over as fashion designers move onto new print patterns that will look fabulous.

Lace-up Corset Belts

A reminder of more romantic times, the lace-up corset belt has had its time. It was popular for a couple of seasons, but it is unlikely to make a comeback in 2018.

Replacing it are wide belts in a wide variety of materials and colors. They will add another dimension to your outfit if you choose the color and style carefully.

Millennial Pink

Made popular by everyone’s favorite princess, Kate Middleton, millennial pink has had its day. Soft pastels are nice if you are having cucumber sandwiches with the Queen, but 2018 will herald brighter and more brass colors for confident and strong women.

Fanny Packs Replaced by Fringed Bags

An icon of the 80’s, the fanny pack came back briefly in 2017 with stars popping down to the shop for a latte sporting their designer fanny pack. Now it is being replaced by new looks and designs in 2018.

Top designers are going for fringe bags in all shapes and sizes, and in some amazing colors enhanced by metallic hues and glitter.

Stay tuned for more fashion items that won’t be making a comeback next year.
